Five Surrey P.E. teachers rallied late in the game show to win $10,000 for their school.

On “Family Feud Canada” Monday (Sept. 18), a Queen Elizabeth Secondary team beat another from a school in Westlock, Alberta, to win the night’s big prize during a special Teachers’ Week promo.

It was a nail-biting victory for gym teachers Tavis Bowie, Shawn Klein, Sukh Badwal, Frederique Muirhead and Danielle Calbick, who were shut out early in the game.

A couple of timely correct answers put the Surrey team into the Fast Money Round with “Feud” host Gerry Dee, who encouraged Klein to stay positive despite some dud answers to survey questions late in the game.

Key to the win was when Klein answered “four” to a question about the ideal number of people for a group project, giving the team more than the necessary 200 points in the final round.

A jubilant Klein gave Dee a good shove before racing to celebrate with the Q.E. team.

Their reaction is shown in video below.

The episode was recorded in Toronto back in mid-August, on the teachers’ summer vacation, and the result wasn’t made public until Monday evening.

• BACK STORY: A fun ‘Family Feud’ trip for Surrey teachers who buzzed in trying to win $10K for school.

The Q.E. team, the only one from B.C. during Teachers’ Week, buzzed in for a chance to win $10,000 in equipment and supplies for students.

Representing Queen Elizabeth Secondary on the show was a thrill, Bowie said prior to the show air date.

“We’re a pretty fun group of individuals so I think everyone was excited to try it out and represent Queen Elizabeth in a positive way. Sometimes the inner-city doesn’t always get the best press, so I think this was just a neat way to show the kids, you know, here’s a group of your teachers, you can laugh at us or make fun of us or, you know, have a joke on us at our expense, right?”
