An unseasonably warm December this year has broken a temperature record that stood for 94 years in the city of White Rock.

On Wednesday (Dec. 27), heat records fell in numerous locations around B.C., according to Environment Canada. With a high of 13.5 C reached in the seaside city, the temperature broke a record that was previously set in 1929.

Multiple records also fell at weather stations throughout Greater Victoria, where a high of 12.9 C surpassed a record set in 1922.

New highs were also set in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast, with 13.7 C, and as far afield as Osoyoos in the Interior, with 6.9 C.

White Rock is not new to breaking weather records, in recent years or even months.

In May, two heat records fell in just one weekend in White Rock, both of which had stood for decades.
