UPDATE Feb 29 4:46 p.m: Police re-opened the roads around the scene of a car crash late Thursday afternoon.
In an email to the Now-Leader, FortisBC stated the crash did not cause a gas leak, but a natural gas meter was damaged.
FortisBC said that close to 100 customers were affected by the crash.
“Crews completed repairs earlier this evening (Feb. 29). A FortisBC technician will visit each affected home to restore gas service at the meter and relight all affected appliances. We estimate relights will be completed before tomorrow morning (March 1),” reads a FortisBC service alert.

Police in Surrey are evacuating the area of the 12800 block of 66 Ave as a precaution after a vehicle struck a natural gas meter.
The Surrey RCMP closed 128th Street in both directions around 66 Ave Thursday afternoon around 3 p.m. and asked motorists to avoid the area.
Fortis BC has been informed of the incident and crews will be sent out to fix the damaged natural gas meter, police say.
