Storm causes localized flooding in White Rock

Marine Drive between Oxford street and Anderson Street was closed due Saturday to flooding

An intense hail and rain storm Saturday (June 15) caused localized flooding along White Rock’s Marine Drive.

Video posted to social media showed the intersection of Marine Drive and Oxford Street partially under water around 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Water could be seen gushing from storm drains.

The water in the intersection has since cleared, but a few parking lots along the drive are still closed due to flooding and large amounts of hail left over from the storm.

As of 11 a.m. Marine Drive between Oxford Street and Anderson Street was also closed due to flooding.

Kevin from South Fraser Search and Rescue posted several videos on X that showed water flowing quickly down the alley between the White Rock RCMP detachment and City Hall Saturday morning.

Crews from the city could be seen cleaning up after the storm and clearing storm drains in parking lots along the drive.
