Surrey RCMP officers followed a female driver from South Surrey down Fraser Highway Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 16, just after 1 p.m.

Officers attempted a traffic stop with a vehicle in South Surrey, but the driver failed to stop for police and continued to “drive recklessly,” according to a press release.

An RCMP helicopter was utilized to help locate the vehicle, as the driver went through Langley to Abbotsford before backtracking to Langley, where it collided with a civilian vehicle near 208th Street and 51b Avenue.

“The female driver was arrested by Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services (PDS), and treated at scene by EHS for minor injuries,” said Cpl. James Mason with Surrey RCMP.

He added that the civilian was not injured.

The southbound section of 208th Street was closed for about 40 minutes while police secured the scene.

Cpl. Zynal Sharoom with Langley RCMP confirmed the incident was not connected to the recent arson in a Langley City backyard shed nearby.
