Announced this week, Arts Club Theatre Company will return to Surrey next season with three shows featuring the music of Johnny Cash, a millennial take on Cyrano de Bergerac and a comedy about a couple coming to grips with their lacklustre sex life.
For multi-day runs at Surrey Arts Centre in 2024-25, the Arts Club on Tour series will feature Michelle Riml’s Sexy Laundry (opens Oct. 16), Christine Quintana’s Someone Like You (January 2025) and the all-Cash musical Ring of Fire (February/March 2025).

On stage at ACT’s Granville Island Stage in Vancouver this spring, Sexy Laundry is the story of Alice and Henry, who aim to rekindle the magic in their 25-year marriage by booking a naughty hotel retreat. But they soon find that when the clothes come off, so do the gloves.

In Someone Like You, an Arts Club Silver Commission, open-hearted Isabelle is a lifelong romantic, but modern love isn’t like a pop song or an old novel — or is it? “When her best friend, Kristin, embarks on a rebound romance, things get complicated as Isabelle’s ‘wingman’ duties cross the line,” says a play synopsis. “This charming new comedy launches the mistaken identities of Cyrano de Bergerac into 21st-century Vancouver with millennial manifestos, dating apps and the quest for self-love.”
Created by Richard Maltby Jr. and conceived by William Meade, Ring of Fire will bring the classic country songs of Johnny Cash to Surrey Arts Centre’s Main Stage next year, in a musical story of his successes, struggles, love and redemption. Audiences will hear I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Country Boy, A Boy Named Sue and other hits.
