Surrey Mounties say a 27-year-old man has been charged with multiple weapons offences after a loaded gun was recovered in Guildford.

Charges stem from an incident just after 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, in the 14900-block of 101A Avenue, where RCMP responded to complaints of a “disturbance.”

Police confronted a man who appeared to have a gun on him, and gave chase. The suspect was soon arrested, and a loaded pistol found nearby.

The officers “demonstrated good policing instincts and quick thinking in a potentially risky situation,” RCMP Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha said in a news release. “Their actions helped to safely remove a loaded firearm from our streets.”

Police say Bryce Scott Telford, 27, has been charged with three counts of firearms-related offences, one count of resist arrest and one count of breach of a court order prohibiting him from possessing firearms. He’s held in custody until his next court date, the news release notes.
